What is Self-Care?
Definition of Self-Care:
the practice of taking an active role in protecting one's own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
Self-care activities are simple things that you do to practice self care. It is about allowing yourself to have a nurturing experience of life right now as opposed to when you work harder in the future.
Self-care is something weโve only started talking about recently and many of us are still uncomfortable with the idea of self-care and what that really means.
Self-care (and self-love) are often seen as selfish and we have to relearn that putting our self first and making intentional effort to live a healthy and happy life are necessary.
There are so many benefits to spending time taking care of yourself, this can mean different things to different people and can also change over time.
Self-care is essential for our mental and physical health and provides us with an opportunity to enjoy our life, energise and keep healthy & happy relationships.
So ask yourself:
What are some of the things that come to your mind when you think about self-care?
If you donโt already can you schedule some self-care time in your diary?
When could you schedule it and how much time do you need per week? Start small with reasonable goal.
What would you do as part of your self-care routine? Be as detailed as possible.
